We have six divisions in our league, the division you are in depends on your year of birth, not your age during the season.
U6. Are youngest players are our Pre-Mites, those players born in 2012 or 2013. There is some degree of flexibility in this age group. For example, a 2012 player may be able to play in the next division if they've already spent a season in Pre-Mites are looking for a bit more of a challenge.
U8 and U10, the Mite division. This division is for players born in 2009, 2010, 2011 or 2012. We try to split these players into two groups, the older and/or more experienced players in one group and the younger and/or less experienced player in another group. There will be some interaction between the two groups. The teams in this division play a modified game, the focus of this group is learning the fundamentals. Players at this level use an 11 inch "softie" ball.
U12, the Squirt division. This division is for birth years 2007 and 2008. 2009 born players may be allowed in this group with coach and board approval. Our U12 division plays the game with real balls, umpires and Softball Canada rules. We add a few modifications to the game but for the most part, players play the game as per Softball Canada rules.
U14, the Peewee division. This division is for players born in 2005 or 2006. This game is played under Sofball Canada rules, there are PG specific House Rules.
U16 and U19. Depending on our numbers, the U16 players (aka Bantams, born in 2003 0r 2004) and the U19 players (aka Midgets, born 2000, 2001 or 2002) usually play together.
